Catching up on news alerts for Telemedicine this morning, I was excited to read a great article about TriStar Health of Middle Tennessee implementing a Telestroke network. TriStar is using a telemed robot to connect patients from 5 Nashville area hospitals with a Neurologist to decide if the patient should receive clot-dissolving drugs to counteract the effects of the stroke.
ISI helped UAMS implement a similar project a little over a year ago to cover the state of Arkansas. UAMS titled their Telestroke network, "AR SAVES".While TriStar uses proprietary software and telemed robot, ISI's engineered solution, is a mobile based cart that utilizes a medical specialist handling a digital stethoscope and connecting to a neurologist via standards based video conferencing.
The Arkansas SAVES program has been very successful, and we hope to see the same success with TriStar's network!
